The Society of NLP is the original-lineage body — co-founded by Richard Bandler — and its certificates are the closest thing NLP has to founder provenance. Here is what that does and does not mean.
Origins
The Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming was set up in the 1980s under Richard Bandler, NLP's co-creator, to certify training delivered to his standard. Licenses through the Society indicate the trainer trained and was authorised within Bandler's lineage.
What an SNLP certificate attests
Completion of a course by a trainer licensed by the Society
Association with the original co-creator's line of NLP — a provenance signal
No legal standing in any jurisdiction, including India
How much lineage is worth
Lineage proves exposure, not competence — excellent and poor trainers exist inside every lineage. An SNLP certificate should raise your confidence in syllabus fidelity to the classic material, and change nothing about the questions you ask on assessment, class size and observed practice.
