What an NLP certificate is
An NLP certificate is a statement from a training company — or a certification body associated with one — that you completed their course. It is not a government qualification, not a licence to practise therapy, and not a degree. No Indian regulator recognises or ranks NLP certificates.
The names attached to Indian courses — ABNLP, IAPCCT, SNLP-lineage certificates, ICF continuing-education credits — are private organisations. Their value is reputational inside the training market, not legal.
What certification does not do
- It does not make you a psychologist, counsellor or therapist
- It does not licence you to treat mental health conditions in India
- It does not guarantee the holder can use NLP competently
- It mostly cannot be revoked and rarely expires — which limits what it signals
Why IONI does not certify
If certificates are unverifiable and unregulated, the honest alternative is demonstrated work. Spirit of NLP participants graduate with a recorded portfolio — supervised practice, a modelling project, coded recordings — that a client or employer can actually examine.
This is not anti-certificate rhetoric; certificates serve a real signalling function. It is a choice about what the institute stands behind: attendance, or evidence.
